General Builder vs Main Contractor

What is project management?

Project management is a professional service offered by Main Contractors, such as Earlswood, across all elements of the construction process, overseeing Planning, Design, Pre-Construction, Construction and Handover of each project.

We look to optimise the best industry practices, decisive management and decision making together with effective project control and reporting methods.

On larger projects a project manager’s services are even more vital due to the increase risks and potential problems which could arise.

Managing the programme

We continually look into 2-8 weeks ahead and put action plans in place to ensure that each delivery element has an owner and that it will be delivered on time. Any potentially issue can then be reviewed, analysed and resolved prior to it being an actual issue effecting the process of the build.

The use of a countdown to completion tracker is another great method of control we use when we are heading to completion and each task or milestone is critical. We also engage with the client at this point as some of the tasks or milestones could be assigned to them such as removal dates etc.

Is it more expensive?

Obviously, there is an increase in cost for these services however if you engage with your main contractor early enough in the process you can benefit from our knowledge and experience to find money and time saving opportunities without compromising quality.
